NEW! improv SOLO Challenge for all levels

Take part in this exciting improv event open to all Junior, Intermediate and Senior dancers! If you are a dancer that loves improv then join the NEW IMPROV CHALLENGE!

How does it work?

  • There will be 3 improv challenges - JUNIOR IMPROV, INTERMEDIATE IMPROV and SENIOR IMPROV

  • All dancers for that level will line up backstage when their level is called.

  • Dancers will be introduced on to the stage and then the IMPROV CHALLENGE will begin!

  • As our MC calls the first dancer’s name they will have 30-40 seconds to show us their best dance moves.

  • The next dancer’s name will then be called to perform.

  • One piece of music will be chosen for Junior Level. Two pieces of music will be chosen for Intermediate and Senior Levels.

  • Junior, Intermediate and Senior Improv Challenge Winners will receive:
    Awards are based on the # of contestants per level as below:
    Over 10 contestants - $100 cash award and $100 Gift certificate for a stop on Power Dance Convention’s next tour
    7 - 10 contestants - $75 cash award and $100 Gift certificate for a stop on Power Dance Convention’s next tour
    5 contestants - $50 cash award and $100 Gift certificate for a stop on Power Dance Convention’s next tour

  • In order to run this event a minimum of 5 entries are required for each level - Junior, Intermediate and/or Senior.
    In addition, a minimum of 10 entries must be received in total.

ENTRY FEE AND DEADLINES:

ENTRY FEE: JUNIOR LEVEL $80 (studio) $100 (individual) INTERMEDIATE AND SENIOR LEVEL $100 (studio) $125 (individual)

Entry Deadline: Winnipeg and Vancouver: October 25, 2023

Rules

  • Open to all dancers in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels. One Improv winner from each level will be awarded.

  • There is no limit to the number of Improv solos a studio can enter (subject to a maximum # of solos per level and in total accepted).
    Improv entries are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

  • Dancers compete in the Improv Challenge in the same level in which they are registered for throughout the convention classes.

  • Contestants must register and attend the full convention (i.e., both days of the convention).

  • NEW - FULL Convention registration must be submitted with any solo entries. Entry cannot be submitted separately for individual registrants.
    If submitting your convention registration through your studio, solo entry must also be submitted by the studio.

  • In order to run any one level a minimum of 5 entries are required for each level - Junior, Intermediate and/or Senior.

  • In addition, to run the Improv Challenge a minimum of 15 entries in total must be received (any combination of levels).
